An Edmonton man is fighting for life after a serious crash in Cairns overnight, with the Forensic Crash Unit now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police say a white 2015 Volkswagen Amarok left Kamerunga Road at Barron around 7.45pm, striking a power pole before coming to rest in a roadside ditch. The driver — a 42‑year‑old Edmonton man — was rushed to Cairns Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or captured dash‑cam vision to come forward as inquiries continue.
