The Cowboys will be chasing back‑to‑back wins when they host the Melbourne Storm at Queensland Country Bank Stadium tomorrow night but say they will need to up their game.

North Queensland finally cracked their first win of the season last week, but players admit the performance still wasn’t where it needs to be. And with the Storm arriving desperate to make a statement, the Cowboys know they’re in for a serious test.

Prop Jason Taumalolo says the group is ready for the challenge.

“They’re coming off a loss so they’re going to come up here and they’ll have a chip on their shoulder when they play us but we’ve got a bit of confidence after last weeks game- defensively we’re a bit better,” he said.

It’s been a big few weeks for Taumalolo, who turned back the clock in last week’s win after battling injuries across recent seasons. The skipper says being healthy again has made a world of difference and it showed on the field.

Tomorrow night’s clash is shaping as a tough, physical contest, with both sides eager to build momentum early in the season.

And for fans, there’s an added bonus with supporters welcomed onto the field after full‑time, giving locals a chance to soak up the atmosphere under the lights at Queensland Country Bank Stadium tomorrow night in Townsville.
