A 42‑year‑old man has been charged in Cairns as part of an ongoing crackdown on the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Far Northern and the Far North Tactical Crime Squad made the arrest under Operation Victor Jenga, which has been targeting OMCG activity since August 2023.
Police executed a search warrant at a Mount Sheridan home on February 26, allegedly seizing methylamphetamine, cocaine, cash, electronic devices, drug paraphernalia and multiple firearms, including rifles, a shotgun and a handgun. Officers allege the man is a member of the Mongols OMCG.
He faces a range of drug and weapons charges and has been remanded in custody to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 21.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace said police will continue using intelligence‑driven strategies to disrupt organised crime in the Far North, warning those involved in OMCG they are not welcome in the Far North and should expect the full force of the law.
