It’s believed the man entered the store on Wednesday morning demanding cash from the store employee.
When the employee called for help the man used the hammer and smashed a number of glass display cabinets then fled on a pushbike.
The First Nations man is described as being aged in his late teens or early 20s and approximately 175cm tall.
At the time he was wearing a dark bucket hat, long-sleeved black shirt with white writing on the front and rear and cream coloured ¾ length shorts.
