At least four teenagers have been arrested, and two are in hospital, after a string of violent and brazen crimes across Cairns.
Police say an 18-year-old is facing charges after allegedly punching and stomping on a 16-year-old boy at Trinity Park before stealing his bike. The victim was taken to hospital, and the accused is due in court next month.
In the city, a 15-year-old is accused of attacking another teen with a metal pole at a McLeod Street store. The victim was treated in hospital, while police continue to investigate others involved.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old from Trinity Beach has been refused bail after allegedly filming himself behind the wheel of a stolen car and posting it online. He’s facing four charges including break and enter and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Another 15-year-old has also been refused bail, accused of stealing multiple cars used in fuel drive-offs at Edmonton and North Cairns. Police say he’s facing 11 offences.
