UPDATE: SES volunteers have found the 36-year-old woman reported missing from Cooktown.
She is currently being walked to Home Rule, where a medical assessment will take place.
Police would like to thank the volunteers, community, public and media for their assistance.
EARLIER: An extensive search is underway for a 36-year-old woman reported missing from Cooktown over the weekend.
Juliana Castrillon (pictured) was last seen hiking away from Cedar Bay towards Home Rule on Saturday morning and has not been seen or heard from since.
An aerial search of the area was conducted on Monday and Tuesday, however these efforts were hampered by poor visibility due to the dense terrain.
A ground search and rescue has recommenced this morning utilising police on foot, along with SES volunteers.
Juliana is described as 169 centimetres tall, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information regarding Juliana’s whereabouts is being urged to contact police.
