Prisoner escapes from Far North Queensland jail farm

UPDATE 2PM: 

Queensland Corrective Services has confirmed the prisoner who escaped from the low security farm has been found and returned to custody.

EARLIER: A prisoner is on the run after escaping from a low security farm in Far North Queensland. 

Police and Queensland Corrective Service officers are hunting for Philemon William Warradoo, who disappeared from the facility this morning. 

He is serving one year for common assault at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, which is located 25 kilometres south of Mareeba, and accommodates high and low security prisoners. 

People are being told not to approach him and to call 000 immediately.
