Police are appealing for witnesses after a violent hit‑and‑run at Trinity Beach left a woman seriously injured. The incident happened around 10.30pm on February 20, when a man became involved in a fight with a couple on Moore Street. During the altercation, he allegedly grabbed the keys to the woman’s white Toyota Hilux, got behind the wheel and hit the couple as he sped away.
The vehicle was later found dumped nearby, and the 43‑year‑old woman was taken to Cairns Hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives from the Smithfield Criminal Investigation Branch are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to come forward as investigations continue.
