A man has been charged with 56 domestic violence offences following extensive investigations in Cairns.
Detectives from the High-Risk Domestic Violence Unit have arrested the 35-year-old, who is accused of dozens of assaults on his partner between December 2020 and November 2022.
His charges include 32 counts of common assault, 10 counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, seven counts of strangulation, four counts of wilful damage and three counts of contravening a domestic violence order.
His police bail was refused, and he is scheduled to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court today.
