A man accused of multiple historic sexual assault incidents in Cairns has been extradited from South Australia.
Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives were assisted by South Australian Detectives to execute a search warrant at the man’s Ceduna address where he was arrested and taken into custody yesterday.
The 75-year-old man has been charged with 25 counts of rape, 11 counts of Indecent assault and one count of deprivation of liberty.
Police will allege the incidents, reported to officers in October 2021, took place in Cairns between 1978 and 1979.
The man has been remanded in custody to reappear at Cairns Magistrates Court today.
