Man charged over Edge Hill Shooting

A 35-year-old man has been charged following an alleged shooting at Edge Hill.

Emergency services responded to reports a man had been shot on Collins Avenue, last Thursday around 1.00pm.

It will be alleged two vehicles collided and one person discharged a firearm at another person before leaving on foot.

A 43-year-old man was located later that day with a non-life threatening single gunshot wound to the leg.

An emergency situation was declared just before 2.00pm, with boundaries encompassing Pease Street, Woodward Street, Polentz Street and Russell Street.

The emergency situation was revoked at 3.45pm.

A 35-year-old Varsity Lakes man has now been charged with acts intended to maim, disfigure, or disable and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

He is expected to appear before the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
