Detectives have charged a 49-year-old Woree man in relation to an armed robbery at a Mount Sheridan home.
It’s alleged the man was with others when they gained entry to the home and confronted a woman in a bedroom yesterday.
The man is accused of threatening the woman with a knife before stealing a gun safe and firearms.
Investigations led police to a property in Woree, where it’s alleged a vehicle fled the scene at speed and in a dangerous manner, while the 49-year-old man fled on a bicycle.
Detectives searched the Woree home and allegedly located a quantity of dangerous drugs including methylamphetamine.
Investigations continued with police later locating the Woree man.
He was charged with one count each of armed robbery in company and possess dangerous drug and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Police Dog Bally and his handler worked overnight with local police to locate a second man after he allegedly jumped from a moving vehicle and ran from police.
Information from the public helped PD Bally track and locate a 27-year-old Manoora man hiding nearby.
This man is currently assisting detectives with their investigations that are ongoing.
