Investigations have revealed a 41-year-old Cairns husband and wife died from gunshot wounds, following a murder suicide in Mount Sheridan yesterday.
Detectives say the couple’s nine-year-old child alerted a family member, who called triple zero to do a welfare check – fortunately the child not home at the time of the incident.
Police say the couple were not known to police and had no history of domestic violence or mental health. However, Detective Acting Inspector Elena Bell said the investigation into what cause the incident is ongoing.
“It’s always possible that things go on behind closed doors that family, friends and police are not aware of,” Inspector Bell said.
