A boy has been charged over an alleged assault on a man in Cairns.
Around 3am yesterday, the 17-year-old boy, along with two others, approached a 24-year-old Edmonton man on Lake Street.
The boy allegedly punched the man several times, before the other two boys joined in.
All three then fled the scene.
Police attended and conducted patrols, locating and arresting the boy.
He was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and possess dangerous drugs.
He was bailed to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
The man was treated by Queensland Ambulance Service at the scene for a black eye and minor cuts and abrasions.
Investigations are continuing.
