The clocks are changing, sleep is disappearing and there’s a very good chance someone is turning up to work at completely the wrong time.
It’s happening again.
Daylight Saving kicks off this Sunday, 4 October, and while the extra evening sunshine is lovely, the clock change brings one very important question: what time is it?!
For the next few days, Australia will be a nation of people checking their phones, staring at clocks and asking someone else what time it is.
You’re Going To Be Late For Work
There is always someone.
You wake up, grab a coffee, jump in the car and arrive at work feeling pretty pleased with yourself. Then someone looks at you and says, “Mate… you’re an hour late.” Classic.
There will be the person who forgets to change their alarm, the person who changes it twice and the person who simply hopes their phone knows what it’s doing.

Someone Will Get A Meeting Wrong
Then there are the meetings.
You confidently join a Teams meeting at 9am. Camera on. Coffee ready. Professional face activated. Nobody else is there.
Turns out your meeting was actually at 8am in Queensland, 8:30am in Adelaide or, if you’re dealing with Perth, you’ve just scheduled a meeting for 6am.
That’s not a meeting. That’s an act of war.
And Then There’s The Sleep
Of course, there’s the small matter of losing an hour.
Sunday night you’ll tell yourself you’ll go to bed early. You won’t.
By Wednesday, you’ll be wondering why you’re exhausted despite doing absolutely nothing differently.

Good Luck Out There
The good news is your phone will probably sort most of the clock-changing business for you.
The bad news is you still have to sort yourself out.
So check your alarms, double-check those Monday meetings and remember that not every state is playing along with Daylight Saving.
And if you’re still confused on Monday morning? Just blame the clocks.
Daylight Saving kicks off Sunday, 4 October. Good luck. We’re all going to need it.
