Police have charged two people with a string of drug‑related offences after a late‑night vehicle intercept on the Bruce Highway near Aloomba on January 8.

Officers allege they attempted to stop the vehicle around midnight, but the driver failed to pull over. A tyre‑deflation device was then deployed, bringing the car to a halt shortly afterwards.

According to police, the 39‑year‑old Kamerunga man fled into nearby cane fields, where he was tracked down by a police dog following a brief search. A 34‑year‑old Freshwater woman remained with the vehicle.

Both were scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court January 9.
