The Cairns Botanic Gardens Team invites the young, and the young at heart, to join us on adventures through our magnificent green spaces during Cairns Festival!
Choose from Historical Tours, Edible Garden Tours, and special events for the little ones! The tours showcase the number of different areas of the Gardens including the Conservatory, the Aboriginal Plant Use section and feature or flowering plants within the garden.
HISTORY TOUR
Heritage Tour of the Tanks Arts Centre and Botanic Gardens Precinct. Find out the use of the tanks in World War ll and how the Gardens came to be. Walks last for 60 to 90 mins.
LITTLE TACCAS TREASURE HUNT:
SPECIAL FESTIVAL EVENT
Nature-based craft activity, discovery walk through the gardens, search the conservatory and storytelling on the lawn.
THE GREEN SPACE EDUCATION FOOD GARDEN
Tour of the Green Space, get ideas for growing food in all environments and situations, have an understanding of compost and its benefits, along with sustainable gardening practices.
