63-year-old dies after paragliding accident

A 63-year-old Utchee Creek man has died after a fatal aviation incident at Mena Creek. The paraglider was airlifted to Cairns Hospital in a life-threatening condition after reportedly falling out of a motorized parachute, from 20 meters in the air, last night.

Paramedics were called to Polich Road in Mena Creek just after 5:30pm where they found the man with significant leg injuries. He was airlifted to Cairns Hospital and died during transit.

Innisfail Police will prepare a report for the coroner following a fatal aviation incident at Mena Creek yesterday, July 7.

Investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
