Rain And Warmer Temps Forecast In North

Rain and warmer temperatures are predicted for much of North Queensland this week.

Meteorologist Peter Markworth said "At this stage most of north and eastern Queensland should see some rain, showers and thunderstorms over the coming week, but at this stage it really depends on where the biggest thunderstorms are as to what your totals will be".

"So we're seeing warmer temperatures up in...northern Queensland, they're gonna start filtering down on the part of the state; that's happening with both the maximum and minimum temperatures and so we are seeing severe heatwaves forecast" he said.

Mr Markworth added, "Around the Sunshine Coast we saw between 100 and 100mm, increasing as you go further south to Brisbane".

It led to the decision to drop total fire bans across National Parks in Queensland.
