Tablelands Regional Council’s off leash dog park in Atherton is looking great after a new sign was recently installed.
“We had a collection of signs that didn’t work well together so decided to clean the place up and create one sign,” said Mayor Joe Paronella.
“We ran a social media competition asking people to send in photos of their dog in the park for the sign and received more than 50 fantastic photos.
“At the end of the day Ash, owned by Keeley Cotton, caught the judges’ eye and now greets everyone as they walk through the gate.
“Now, as people enter, they see a great photo of Ash leaping through the equipment, and can read a list of the requirements of having their dog in the park.
“There’s also a reminder to look on our website and social media if your pet is missing,” he said.
Keeley and Ash are regular visitors to the park and Keeley says it’s an important part of Ash’s exercise.
“The park allows Ash to run around in safety, socialise with other dogs and learn new tricks and skills on the equipment.
“There aren’t any other places where she can have that freedom.
“It’s pretty cool that she won the competition and to see her on the sign when we arrive,” she said.
