The Pacific Explorer will be based in Cairns for a summer season of four cruises in 2021.

Her visit will include a 10-night itinerary to the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.

With the season beginning on November 9, 2021, guests can also enjoy three dedicated cruises to the colourful, cultural and tropical paradise of PNG calling at Alotau, Kitava Island, Rabaul, Kiriwina Island and the Conflict Islands.

The series of cruises will give Northern Queensland guests a wealth of onboard features including the two longest and wildest waterslides on an Australian-based cruise ship along with an action-packed waterpark.

Families and couples of all ages can also sample a choice of dining options including Luke’s a poolside grill by Australian chef and restauranteur Luke Mangan and 400 Gradi, a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria by award-winning chef Johnny Di Francesco.

Relaxation and good times will also be on the menu in Pacific Explorer's elegant new small bar, The Bonded Store, featuring a cocktail list created in partnership with Sydney-based award-winning Archie Rose Distilling Co, as well as whisky and gin-making classes.

Guests can enjoy a cocktail or two on the upper deck playing outdoor lawn bowls – an Australian cruise ship first or sit back and enjoy the Love Riot show featuring world-class dance, comedy, circus and acrobatics from internationally acclaimed Australian director Scott Maidment.

P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said Pacific Explorer’s four-cruise series from Cairns were a chance for Northern Queenslanders to experience P&O’s modern cruise product and wide variety of dining and entertainment options that offered something for everyone.

“The series means our cruise fans in Queensland’s tropical north can take a break and explore the idyllic remote beaches, culture and history found in the relatively untouched Solomon Islands and PNG as well as experiencing Pacific Explorer’s popular onboard features,” Mr Myrmell said.

Following her three round-trip itineraries to Papua New Guinea, Pacific Explorer will depart Cairns on December 4, 2021 on a three-night themed comedy cruise to Brisbane.

Bookings for cruises on Pacific Explorer from Cairns are available now and include a 7-night New Guinea Island Encounter sailing to Papua New Guinea departing on November 27, 2021. Fares start from $759* per person for an interior quad share cabin.
