Road Closure - Cairns Western Arterial, Kamerunga

UPDATE | The Western Arterial Road at Kamerunga has now re-opened to traffic in both directions following an early crash.

Motorists are urged to take care in this area.

Police investigations are continuing.

EARLIER | There have been some major interruptions on the Cairns West Arterial at Kamerunga on Monday.  

A man driving a ute was involved in an accident earlier and had to be set free.

He was eventually taken to the Cairns Hospital with leg injuries.

Emergency Services and crews are working to clear the road way and make it safe.

Both lanes remain closed at this time.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

There are no traffic diversions in place. Motorist are asked to follow the directions of police and traffic controllers.

EARLIER | Police and emergency crews are currently on-scene at a two vehicle traffic crash on the Cairns Western Arterial Road between the Barron River Bridge and the Lake Placid traffic lights.

Initial information indicates a crash occurred between a semi-trailer and a ute at around 10.23am. Emergency crews are currently working to release the driver of the ute who is entrapped.

Both lanes are currently closed due to vehicles blocking the road and power lines being down.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
