Property & Fraud Charges

A couple of people are accused of selling a stolen phone to a second-hand goods dealer in Bungalow last month.

A woman sold to the phone to the Mulgrave Road business on July 16 after completing documentation declaring herself as the owner.

Subsequent police inquiries established that the phone had been stolen from a vehicle at a Cairns North caravan park in August 2018.

The phone was seized, and Cairns Property Crime Squad officers spoke with a 25-year-old Parramatta Park woman late Monday afternoon.

She was issued with a notice to appear for one charge of fraud.

Further inquiries resulted in a 40-year-old Parramatta Park man being issued with a notice to appear for receiving tainted property.

Both are expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 29.
