Principal Contractor For Atherton Hospital Redevelopment Unveiled
Construction is set to start on the $70 million Atherton Hospital Redevelopment in Far North Queensland after FK Gardner & Sons won the tender for the principal contractor.
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service’s Executive Director Rural and Remote Services, Gabrielle Honeywood, said this is another significant milestone for the Atherton Hospital Redevelopment project.
“I am delighted to announce the principal contractor for this regional development, which has been highly anticipated by the Atherton Tablelands community,” she said.
“The Atherton Hospital Redevelopment will provide a new purpose-built Clinical Services Building, a new Community, Allied and Mental Health Building, new Engineering Services Buildings, relocation of the helipad, onsite carparking works, internal road upgrades and external infrastructure upgrades.
“FK Gardner & Sons has had several years’ experience in delivering projects of this scale and complexity and will be bringing a highly qualified team together to start work first on the Community, Allied and Mental Health Building on Jack Street.
“I understand how important the redevelopment is to the Atherton community and how much everyone is looking forward to seeing works start,” she said.
The principal contractor will be working together with the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service being supported by the Department of Health Queensland, Peddle Thorp (Principal Consultants), WT Partnership (Quantity Surveyors) and Capital Insight as Project Manager.
Construction will begin next month and the project is expected to be completed mid-2022.
