Progress On Hailstorm Repairs
Tablelands Regional Council is still working through its insurance claim from last year’s hailstorm and Mayor Joe Paronella said it’s been a long and complex process.
“Several of our facilities were damaged by the storm.
“The worst hit was the Tableland Regional Gallery and it requires a large body of work to get it back up and running.
“Although the damage to all the facilities is part of a single claim, a lot of work is needed so it is taking time to process.
“The assessors have finalised their physical assessments and are working through the details of the claim with the insurance company.
“We have already started removing the damaged floor in the gallery so, as soon as the claim is resolved, we can commence repairs.
“We appreciate the community’s understanding during this lengthy process, and praise their passion and enthusiasm for the gallery,” he said.
While the gallery is closed, exhibitions are being held in a pop-up gallery at 112 Main Street in Atherton.
All the costs associated with leasing the temporary gallery space are being covered by insurance as part of the claim.
