BREAKING | One Critical After Bus Slams Into Building In Cairns
UPDATE | The driver of the minibus, that crashed into a building in Westcourt on Thursday, is fighting for life.
The man, believed to be aged in his 70's, was taken to Cairns Hospital earlier.
WIN News is reporting the driver suffered a cardiac arrest whilst driving along Mulgrave Road.
The Queensland Ambulance Service was unable to confirm that but did say that two people on board the bus were treated for shock at the scene.
But Senior Operations Supervisor Manjeet Singh said they were initially concerned they might be dealing with an accident involving a bus load of people, that is, a multi casualty incident.
The other thing they thought they might be dealing with, was the driver suffering some sort of medical episode.
CPR was performed on the driver immediately following the accident after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Mr Singh said Paramedics worked on the driver for 30 minutes at the scene before he was taken to Hospital.
