There's been some sweet success for a local beekeeper.
Graham Thornton's been selling directly to the public for years but with the demand for local honey increasing, Woolworths in Cairns and Townsville want in.

He's recently signed a deal with the supermarket giant but says it's on one condition..
"I mean the amazing thing about that is that, with our Woolies contract, we're going into the fresh fruit and vegetable section so what we're really wanting people to stand up and notice is that without the bees there wouldn't be 70 per-cent of those fresh fruit and vegetables in that department" Mr Thornton explained.

"We're just trying to get people to make that real connection about the importance of bees and honey to actually what they eat and what food they consume" he added.
