TRAFFIC HAZARD | Serious Two Truck Collision In Mareeba

UPDATE | Paramedics say they treated two people for critical injuries at the scene of Thursday morning's collision between two trucks in Mareeba.

They advise that neither victim will be taken to hospital.

EARLIER | Two trucks have collided in Mareeba on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on the Kennedy Highway at 7:27AM. 

Witnesses tell us they saw a big black plume of smoke rise into the sky following the collision.  

The location of the wreckage is near Tichum Creek with the highway blocked.

Motorists are being warned to expect extensive delays, so it would be best avoiding the area. 

Police advise the Kennedy Highway is closed between Mareeba and Kuranda.

They add, the Kuranda Range is open but closed at Koah.

Traffic coming from Mareeba will not be able to get through to Kuranda and should seek alternate routes until further notice.
