Japanese Tourist Narrowly Avoids Sexual Assault At Bus Stop
Police want to hear from anyone who knows anything about the attempted sexual assault and robbery of a woman at Kewarra Beach.
The Japanese tourist was targeted on the Captain Cook Highway last Friday.
She hopped off a bus on Poolwood Road and was grabbed from behind by a man waiting at the stop.
He tried to sexually assault her but she got away but he did manage to grab her shoulder bag and tore the strap.
The man was last seen running into bushland southbound towards Centenary Park.
The man is described as Aboriginal in appearance, around 30-years-old, approximately 165cm tall with a solid to heavy build, short black hair and a trimmed black beard.
He was wearing a black t-shirt and dark coloured pants.
