Cairns Man Punched and Spat On After Abusing Motorist For Double Parking

Police charged a Machans Beach man over an attack on a 63-year-old.

It will be alleged the 27-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle that parked over two parking bays in centre parking on Sheridan Street last Friday.

A 63-year-old motorist witnessed this and yelled at the driver that they couldn’t leave the vehicle parked like that.

Police allege the 27-year-old man approached the older driver, spat in his face before the older driver reacted by slapping the alleged offender across the face.

It’s further alleged the man punched the older man in the face several times, reached into the man’s vehicle, grabbed his mobile phone and smashed it on the ground before punching him again in the face.

Witnesses helped the victim.

The other man due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 2.
