Blaze Alight Between Cardwell And Tully

Firefighters have spent the evening at a bushfire burning near the Bruce Highway and Bilyana Road, Bilyana between Cardwell and Tully.
 
This fire broke out at 10.30am and is posing no threat to property at this time.
 
The fire is burning within containment lines and crews will remain on scene to monitor the fire.
 
Bilyana residents and motorists driving in the area will be affected by a smoke haze.
 
Residents are asked to close windows and doors, and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are currently on scene at a grass fire burning on the Bruce Highway at Bilyana, between Cardwell and Tully. This fire broke out at 10.30am and is posing no threat to property at this time. Firefighters are working to control the blaze. Bilyana residents and motorists driving in the area will be affected by a smoke haze and are advised the Bruce Highway is closed as a result. Residents are asked to close windows and doors, and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
