Far North Queensland’s five surf lifesaving clubs are looking for recruits this weekend, with all clubs hosting their annual Sign On Day.

Clubs at Ellis Beach, Port Douglas, Cairns, Etty Bay and Mission Beach will open their doors to everyone and anyone this Sunday from 10am.

They are encouraging locals in joining or learning more about surf lifesaving to head down to their nearest club.

In the 2020/21 season Far North Queensland had a total membership of 1,116 people which include 406 active patrolling members and 326 nippers.

SLSQ North Queensland Regional Manager Jennifer Rees encouraged everyone to visit their local surf club this Sunday.

“There is something for everyone at Surf Life Saving Queensland in the Far North,” she says.

“Whether you’re interested in patrolling, surf sports or learning first aid, we have something for you.

“Each patrolling member is trained in First Aid and CPR for free each season and walks away with lifelong skills."
