Woman stabbed in stomach after fight breaks out on Lake Street

A 47-year-old woman's been arrested, following an alleged stabbing in Cairns City.

Police were called to a disturbance on Lake Street around 6.30pm on Tuesday.

They say a fight broke out between two women, who are known to each other, resulting in a 49-year-old Earlville woman suffering a single stab wound to the abdomen.

She was transported to Cairns Hospital for treatment.

Police arrested a 47-year-old Manunda woman at the scene.

She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being discharged, and has since been charged with grievous bodily harm.

The accused was denied police bail and was remanded in custody.

She was due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
