Teens charged following three stolen cars in Cairns

A group of teens have been charged over the theft of three vehicles in Cairns.

It's alleged the group broke into a Sheridan Street business on Wednesday night, stealing several vehicle keys that were then used to steal three Silver Toyota hatchbacks.

Two of the vehicles were later located abandoned in Woree and Cairns North.

Yesterday afternoon in Woree, Officers from the Tactical Crime Squad successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on the remaining outstanding vehicle.

A short time later, the vehicle came to a halt and the occupants fled on foot.

Officers located a 15-year-old Woree boy, he was arrested and opposed bail.

He was later charged with 18 offences including four counts each of attempted enter premises with intent and enter premises and commit indictable offence, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle along with one count each of burglary, driving a vehicle without a driver’s licence, enter premises with intent, false fire alarm, receiving tainted property, trespass and wilful damage.

A 15-year-old boy, 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl were also arrested and charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle offences.
