A Manunda woman has been charged with evading police before locking herself in the car so officers couldn't get to her.

At 6pm on Thursday, police tried to intercept the driver on Draper Street in Parramatta Park, but she took off, allegedly speeding through a red light and stop sign.

Police say when she came to a stop in Jubilee Street, she locked herself in the car, refusing to talk to officers.

It is alleged two passengers sprinted from the scene, before dumping cash and a set of scales in bushes. They have subsequently been charged.

Police managed to get the driver to unlock the car doors. She has been charged with failing to comply with requirement to stop the vehicle.

All are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court in December.
