Man charged, property offences

Officers from the Property Crime Squad have charged a 25-year-old Bentley Park man following investigations into property related offences allegedly committed on October 18 in the suburbs of Manoora, Cairns North and Bentley Park.

It will be alleged the man gained entry to a Fitzmaurice Drive home sometime after 1am on
October 18. He allegedly stole a handbag from inside the residence before stealing a silver sedan from the garage. The car was later recovered in Mooroobool at around 8am that morning.

It will be further alleged the man gained entry to an Oceanview Place home at Mooroobool around 7am on October 18 where he stole a handbag containing personal ID and credit cards.

He allegedly used the stolen credit cards to purchase cigarettes and grocery items throughout the day.

The 25-year-old was charged with five counts of fraud, two counts of burglary and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was further charged over the burglary of an Alfred Street home on July 18 and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
