Drug charges, Fitzroy Island
Two men have been charged after police found drugs in their Fitzroy Island hotel room.
Officers were alerted to a disturbance on the island on Friday, speaking to six men upon arrival before conducting a search.
Sergeant Andrew Ibell says quantities of MDMA, cannabis, drug utensils, a knife and cash were allegedly found last Friday.
"Its only small amounts of drugs and cash located," Sergeant Ibell said.
"But obviously these people had been at the resort for several days and were leaving the resort.
"They probably arrived there with a bit more than we locate."
Sergeant Ibell added the group of people had had been staying at the resort for several days.
"They went there to celebrate a family occasion," Sergeant Ibell said.
"Obviously they believe that was a suitable place to engage in drug activity."
The two men aged 65 and 38 will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court in December on multiple drug charges.
