Burglary and property charges, Cairns North

A man has been charged following a string of burglary and stealing offences at several Cairns North addresses on Thursday afternoon.

It will be alleged the man attended residences in Gelling, Beryl and Charles Streets between 1pm and 4.30pm Thursday and stole various items of clothing, foodstuffs and a Mynah bird trap.

A nearby resident observed the man stealing the bird trap just before 4.30pm and contacted police.

Officers attended and the man was arrested after a short foot chase.

The 38-year-old Goldsborough man was charged with three counts each of burglary and stealing, and one count of trespass.

He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later Friday morning.
