Man charged over Cardwell death appears in court
A 22-year-old man charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in Cardwell, has faced court.
He appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday where he made no application for bail.
His case was scheduled to be mentioned in court again on Tuesday.
Police will allege a fight broke out between the pair on Sunday June 21 on Victoria Street, before the accused allegedly shoved a 46-year-old man into the path of an oncoming truck.
The 46-year-old Innisfail man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Acting Inspector Jason Smith said it was an extensive investigation.
"Examinations at the scene revealed some blood marks that appeared to be inconsistent with the traffic accident scenario," said Acting Inspector Smith.
"When we looked at that we backed tracked and quickly identified there was more to this."
