Three more youths charged over transit assaults
Three more children have been charged as a result of continued investigations into two separate alleged assault incidents aboard suburban buses last week.
The first incident involved a woman being allegedly assaulted by several youths travelling on an inbound bus on Mulgrave Road at Parramatta Park at around 12.15pm on June 18.
The woman allegedly had her hat knocked to the floor before being punched to the upper arm. She was not physically injured.
Around 2pm on the same day, a group of youths were travelling on an outbound bus on the Bruce Highway near Gordonvale when they allegedly taunted a 12-year-old girl and assaulted a 15-year-old boy.
A demand was made for the boy to hand over his phone and he declined. It will be further alleged he was struck on the back of the head, however was not physically injured.
Cairns CPIU detectives charged a 10-year-old Earlville boy with three counts of common assault, two counts of stealing, and one count each of going armed to cause fear and serious assault.
A 12-year-old Earlville girl was charged with three counts of common assault.
A 14-year-old White Rock girl was charged with one count each of serious assault.
She was also further charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and entering premises with intent as a result of other unrelated matters.
Five children have now been charged in relation to the alleged incidents and investigations are continuing.
