Our shame...

It isn't an easy or pleasant thing to talk about, but incidents of violence involving strangulation need to be talked about. Especially when the rates in our region outstrip the rest of the state. In the year since the Government introduced the charge of 'non-lethal strangulation', the number of people charged with this offence in our area is disproportionally high. It is not something we can be proud of.

Tomorrow morning just after 7:30 am in the Breakfast Show, my special guest will be Heatlth Minister Cameron Dick. The potential long term impacts on victims and our community from DV and incidents of strangulation is shocking. This is a conversation we need to have. Something has to change, and parents and grandparents can be a part of that change. The younger generation needs to be protected, and even diverted,  from this worrying trend.
