CEO of the Qld Resources Council discusses the future of Aus Energy Policy
Energy policy has been at the forefront of the national debate for months now. Australia has gone from one of the cheapest suppliers of energy to the world’s most expensive within a generation. The issue seems to be that as we move away from cheap traditional coal fire generation the cost of using new renewable technology is being passed unfairly onto the consumer.
I spoke with the CEO of the Qld Resource Council and former Qld Senator, Ian Macfarlane. Ian explained that coal was still this county’s best resource to produce reliable and cheap energy. He did however accept that as new technologies become cheaper and more reliable we will become less reliant on coal in the future.
