SAS deemed to be the best to deal with domestic terror situations
The Federal Government is proposing a raft legislative changes that will allow SAS troops to operate against domestic terror situations. The changes were flagged after the inquiry into Lindt Café Siege which highlighted legislative hurdles that meant neither police nor the military were able to intervene earlier.
I spoke generally about this with Lt Gen John Grey who believes that allowing Australia’s most highly trained soldier the ability to act will makes logical sense.
