Celebrate what we do have

Today I spoke to Mike Newman, the director of Fireworks Xplosive Art, about the New Year's Eve fireworks displays around Cairns.  Listen below to our discussion. 

The year 2020 started with bush fires, a global pandemic that resulted in life-changing events for people around the world. However, people were still keen to see the year out and celebrate what they do have in their lives. Like most years it rained on New Year's Eve but Cairns was lucky and managed to get both the 8:30 am and midnight fireworks displays in. It rained right before both events making even Mike hold his breath and think they might be cancelled. Watch below the spectualr fireworks display at the Cairns Esplanade.
