Police quick response to bus crime
Today I spoke to Brian Huxley, the Far North District Chief Superintendent, about the fast response police are taking this week to stamp out youth crime on buses. Listen below to our discussion.
After a surge in youth crime on buses, the Cairns Police have initiate Operation Esplanade Safety that will deploy 18 plainclothes and uniformed officers patrolling selected buses and interchanges. There has been an increase in evening patrols by bike-mounted police officers along the Cairns Esplanade and will continue beyond the weekend. Police are working hard to keep our streets and buses safe but juvenile crime must to stop.
