Cairns MP starts push for major ring road
Warren Entsch has his sights set on a bold new plan to fix traffic bottlenecks in Cairns.
The Leichhardt MP says he's got agreement from major stakeholders to lobby for the construction of a ring road stretching from Woree, up through Caravonica, out to Smithfield, then back to the airport.
He says for a start, it'd be a continuation of the Bruce Highway, that currently terminates at Mulgrave Road.
"It will also deal very comprehensively with the congestion we see at the Smithfield roundabout and also gives us a good feeder off to Captain Cook Highway going further north or the Kennedy Highwat going up to the Tablelands," he says.
