Murray has quite a history with 4CA, having first worked at the station in 1991 as the afternoon announcer.
He was also the weekend breakfast announcer for about 6 years in the early naughties whilst studying law at James Cook University.
After becoming a lawyer and working in private practice for 5 years, he decided that maybe law was really not for him – the audience was not big enough in court!
Being born in the tropics, Murray spent his high school years in Brisbane.
Every year he would travel to holiday at his grandmother’s home in Palm Cove, and then settled in Mackay in 1986 with his first job in radio.
The pull of the beautiful Cairns region became too much and he moved here permanently in 1991 and first worked at 4CA.
Nowadays, Murray has given the law game away and loves early morning radio.
You will often hear about his fishing adventures with his son Max, and the trouble two boys at home cause for his partner Michelle. The things that poor girl has to put up with.
A true local, Murray is a well-known and colourful character… maybe you could describe him as a mixture of both Reef and Rainforest!!!
You can catch Murray weekdays from 5AM - 8.30AM on 4CA!
